this photo is made with the same lens/camera. It seems a lot sharper.
So maybe it is not the lens, but the person behind the shutter release button...
I can send it to Nikon, but want to make sure it is really the lens, before I do so

done it, the it focus slightly to the front...I just sent the lens to NIkon. They will calibrate it or whatever it is needed...then hopefully is betterr
