I asked about this combo a couple of weeks ago.

Here is an image of a daytime moon at 10 am from my driveway with my D300s and tripod and remote release. vr off.

Nice shot, but when I was in school 200mm X 1.4 = 280mm. I'm to old to have taken that new math stuff.:D

With that shutter speed, you didn't really need the tripod.

That's pretty sharp - considering you have an off-brand TC and 100% crop.

Are you able to maintain AF with that brand of TC?

No, NOT 420mm, no. Sorry.

200mm x 1.4 = 280mm. On a small-sensor body. Still just 280mm. Please do not confuse common sayings and misunderstandings about Field of View factor with actual lens focal length, or common parlance with actual correct nomenclature.

After all, 90% of American men will say they have seven inches "down there"....

Yes, AF worked. It snapped right to focus.

Edit;
I origonally got the kenko to go with my 70-300 vr . At the time I didn't think it made sense to put a $400 tc on a $500 lens.

280 X 1.5 = 420 ;)

Yep! He forgot to factor in your D300s didn't he...

Didn't forget anything. Focal length is focal length. Field of view is just that, field of view. Apples are apples and oranges are oranges. Combing the two together doesn't make a whole new fruit, just a fruit salad. :D
