Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8

I already have a comparable monopod. Is that enough?

The cost of the repir will vary dependent on what is amiss with the lens.

Plagarist! You even copied my spelling error (which I have corrected).

Not cool!

Okay, so I got it and man is the AF slow.

Anyways, here's a test shot. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

This region seems to be in focus.

But the rest of the image seems to be out of focus.

Here's a crop at 100% of the in focus region (ISO 400 btw).

And here's a crop at 100% of the out of focus region.

Has anyone encountered something like this before?

So should I send this lens into Nikon? I called them and they said we'll see what we can do if not, we can offer you a newer version of the lens at a discounted price. Or should I take it into a local camera shop and try to get it serviced there?

60 bucks.

Just went to the local camera store. They said nothing could be done to repair it. :(

You think NIKON could do better?

If nothing else it is a hell of a 80mm f/2.8.
