Photos NOT OK to edit
I have 3 AF-S lenses for the D5000 and was wondering if these lenses would be OK on a Nikon body such as the D300s which has the focus motor built in. Which AF motor would take priority, etc?

Some early AF film bodies lack the control circuitry for AF-S lenses, but all later film bodies and all digital bodies will auto focus with AF-S lenses. AF-S lenses use their own AF motor regardless of the body used; they have no provision for connecting to the motor in the body.

Thanks for that Dwig - I am guessing there will be no difference in focus speed between a lens & body motor...........?

Yes it will work great on a body like the D300s, typically lenses with the focus motor in them (AF-S, HSM, etc) will focus faster and quieter.
