I use the D700, so when I had to use a D3 for an event, I thought it would be the same. Well, there are a few noticeable differences that bothered me.
On the D700, when adjusting aperture, the aperture increment is smaller than when I have the same lens on the D3. For example, my D700 will move from F1.4, 1.6, 1.8, 2,2.5,2.8....
But on the D3, it will go from F1.4, 1.8, 2, 2.8... It jumps faster, which means giving me fewer options that I have on the D700.
The ISO setting adjustment was like that too. The D700 will move from ISO 200, 250, 320, 400, 500, 640, 800, 1000, 1250, 1600...
The D3 will jump from 200, 400, 800, 1600...
It was really annoying not having the finer adjustment, because there's a huge difference in noise between ISO 800 and 1600, and by experience, I knew I could make it work at 1250 if I had the choice.
So it is the way the D3 is being designed, or am I not doing it right on this camera?
