Photos NOT OK to edit
Posted in wrong section earlier tonight. Here it is where it should be. Well, parents got me a Nikon D40 for Christmas and they were about to wrap it, and I asked if I could go take a few shots w/ it. Well, they let me. I got 2 lenses. The outside shots were taken w/ a AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED lense and the Christmas tree shots were taken w/ AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II. All of my photos w/ the new Nikon D40 are HERE in the sets "Backyard Walkaround" and "Christmas Tree." These are my first shots EVER using a Digital SLR camera and just played around w/ it. I have 18 classes I will be taking starting January to learn how to use my D40. I'll post my favorites here. What are your suggestions to help me become a better photographer?

I was thinkin of gettin the D40 or 40X but figured might as well save up the the D80 instead but all great cameras nonetheless

isnt the d40 just great? =)

I'll give it that. It's just great........sorry, there are so many things I dislike about the D40 though. Still a capable camera that can get professional shots, its just the principles of the camera I disagree with.

thank you for the comments. i will most likely be shooting a reasonable amount of nature shots and sporting events. what would be the best setup for the following 3 scenarios:

1. a sunny day out in the woods
2. basketball for high school/college
3. soccer for high school/college
