I've had the 18-55 Kit lens and it's awesome. Does it make sense for me to upgrade and sell the 18-55 and get the Nikon 16-85mm?

I wouldn't say so. The 18-55 is a pretty good lens. The 16-85 is over $600 if I remember right, so it doesn't seem worth it to me. Are you wanting something in the same focal range? If so, I would recommend the Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 or the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8...both lenses are tack sharp and around $400

I agree. The optical quality, price, and speed of the 16-85 won't compare to that of the Tamron or the Sigma. If you're looking to upgrade, go for the two lenses stated above.

I wouldnt think sellig your lenses are worth it, Ive traded a lens for a better lens and a flash (the old lens was perfect 36-72mm f/3.5 lens and the other one was 35-105 f/3.5 and I got a flash with it. I feel I got a good deal)

2mm difference isnt going to make a huge difference, but 30mm might. Its still not a HUGE difference when the cost of the lens is included.
Since you love the 18-55 kit lens I dont see why you should sell it,save your money and get another lens if you really want to.

Only if you have a problem with the kit, my 16 is excellent, and my next step is going to be the 24-70. You best bet would be to wait until you can make a major improvement, such as I am.
