Yes, some cropping at the top would improve the photo.

To confirm the shallow DOF, let that space remain there.... sorry, that was my taste

Keeping the dead space above it gives the impression that it's falling, given that it appears to be tumbling I think you'd confuse the viewer into thinking it's just floating on one end if you removed the space above.
