Nikon Scan Digital ICE issues

I am scanning color negatives on multiple Coolscan 5000 scanners. Using the SA-21 strip adapter to batch scan strips of various sizes (2-6 frames). The negs have alot of scratches, so I have tried using Digital ICE but I constantly get an error message: "There was error in performing a scan." This happens on all three of my 5000 scanners. I cannot get the software to do a batch of multiple frames. I have thousands of color negative strips to process, so I really need to batch scan them, and since they have so much scratching I have to use DICE to make them at all useable. I have looked at the various scan settings (preferences) to see if there is something that is causing this, but have found nothing to date that makes any difference. I have installed NikonScan 4.0.3.3000 on 3 PCs running Win7.

Does anyone have any experience with this problem: Getting NS to apply DICE during batch scanning? Thanks for any help.

What software are you using....if it's Nikon software it could be a fault in that program. Since Nikon does not support that software I recommend getting Vuescan. I use is on my Nikon 5000 and it works great.

I second the idea of trying VueScan software... I have it and use it it preference to EPSON and Minolta's OEM offerings...
