Thanks Bill. I've since learned it's a blood root, apparently. It's the only thing resembling spring around here. And while I was focusing on the ground, taking these shots, I looked up and a HUGE red tail hawk swooped away up the valley below me. Totally missed it. Sigh.

Love that flower, I like that blood root also. Try getting lower on more of an angle and a little processing on that and you have a great shot.
