Noel- Gods and Goddesses Shoot

I was recently sponsored to attend a large themed group shoot near Seattle, to which the theme was Gods and Goddesses. Noel was one of the attending models, and I'm not sure who he was portraying because the look doesn't make a ton of sense to me, but he looked beautiful nonetheless and I made sure I got a few ok shots of him. It was fun attending an event like this because there was no pressure to deliver anything and I didn't have to buy a ticket to attend, but I would love to get more involved in the production side of things with events like this in the future rather than being a shooter at them.

These were shot in natural light, with a silver "reflector". So basically I forgot my reflector at home for this one, and I improvised by going to the Dollar Tree and making a reflector using a car windshield cover and a foldable cardboard display board. Cost me a whole $2, but it worked just the same!

Wish I'd have shot this headshot at f/8 to get more detail in the face, rather than shooting at f/2.8, my bad.

Wish I'd have shot this headshot at f/8 to get more detail in the face, rather than shooting at f/2.8, my bad.

Actually of the series I like this one the best. I'm not so sure you made a mistake in the shallow DOF, as this is a really dramatic face. The shallower DOF seems to draw you into the eyes, without which I'm afraid one might wander over the other strong features of the individual

F/8 would only put his nose, eye brow and forehead back into focus, and make his ears a bit less out of focus, but I believe the shot would have the same impact with just a bit more in focus. Specifically I don't like noses and foreheads being out of focus in headshots, because it makes my retouching look inconsistent.
