I am shooting with a Canon 30d. I have more noise than I would like to have. I am shooting at 100 ISO RAW. I have tried the noise filters in Bridge and PScs3 but they don't seem to get the job done. I was wondering if there was a plug-in or some piece of software that could do a better job than CS3. Another thing I had a question about was making large photos from an 8.2mp camera. I have been told "Genuine Fractals" is a good way to go. Any advice? Thanks a bunch -Josh
i dont quite understand how you'd have more noise than you want at iso 100.... i just dont hear that complaint ... ever
Eh.. i'm going to have to agree. I have an older Nikon d70 and don't have noise issues at iso 200.. even 800 is acceptable to me personally. But when I do have a problem, I choose Noise Ninja (google it)
Photoshop's camera raw plugin just doesn't do a great job in my opinion. You'll get much better results out of the box with DPP, but I prefer to use Capture One.
Hmmm. Well I use a Hasselblad back at work and it has no noise. If you put the two side by side you would see how noisy your 30d is. I guess none of you know of a good plugin or some third party software?
There is also the lack of subtle tone gradation in this like clouds. Any advice on smoothing that out?
Noise Ninja and Neat Image both seem to get a good amount of positive feedback. Are you brightening images in photoshop? That would give you quite a bit of noise, but if your looking at an unedited RAW image and there is a lot of noise, something might be wrong with your camera.
I am getting color noise or it is just not gradating enough for my tastes. I am also trying to get the biggest file I can so I up the pixels in Bridge. That might be where I'm going wrong. That is why I also asked about "Genuine fractals". Seems kinda crazy to make something that isn't there but I thought I would give it a shot. Doing retouching on such a small file is frustrating.
