Northern Mockingbird with bling

[Hunter58]

I've gotten this bird once before when it was molting terribly, looks better now. I've never seen a banded Mockingbird before.

Also got this young White-eyed Vireo in the backyard this morning

Oh, I love that Vireo! That's sweet.

I've never seen a banded Mockingbird either, but I don't doubt they DO get banded from time to time.
Mockingbirds are incredibly photogenic. Obnoxious as all get out, but photogenic.

Nice shots. There used to be a mockingbird that hung around the Tidal Basin in DC -- it mimicked a traffic officer's whistle.

Excellent, all!

Why would anyone band a mockingbird? They're everywhere and they seem to have territories so you can always find the same one if you want. I had one trained to eat raisins every morning. I would wait just outside the kitchen window until I threw some raisins out. I didn't try to train it to eat out of my hand though - seems dangerous. I knew someone who trained chickadees to do that.

Wow, what great detail in these photos!
Have to agree with Sharon, love that Vireo shot. Looks like the light is right on his eye!
