These first photos are for C&C on the difference between more and less peacock. There are a few different ones that have been cropped. Please let me know.
Please remember the skies were white/gray from cloud cover.

#7 was the best picture in the set for me. All good work, but wish there was sharper focus in #5.

Thanks. When you say sharper focus, on which specific part of the fox? Or do you mean more depth of focus, so that more was in focus?
Do you have any comments on whether the cropped or full versions of the peacocks were better, or if they were all ok as different compositions.

I must be a huge pervert because I only saw "cock" in the title. ha. Nice pictures though. I used to have a few peacocks back home. They're SO loud!

I agree, I think a little more DOF would have benefited them all with the exception of the goose. Otherwise great shots.

Thanks guys. I agree more depth of focus would have been better, but most of my shots are usually too "flat" ie. nothing singled out, no foreground, no background, all in focus. I thought these were better because they have a specific focus. Like #5 is focused on the eyes. Maybe a good balance of the 2 would be better (or knowing WHEN to do 1 or the other)

I have to say I like the exposures and the compositions you're going for here. I think that there is a slight rough edge to your work, but with more experience and practice I think you're already well on your way to producing some really good stuff.

Shot 5 I think really stands out to me - yes the depth of field is a little thin, but you've nailed both eyes in focus (which is the all important part) and the shot it close enough that the lack of the ears is not really noticed at all. A bit more depth for that long nose would be nice, but I appreciate how it can be tricky in such situations to get enough light to allow for a fast shutter speed and a small aperture.

Of the peacock shots I think the last two are the better where you have a nice side portrait of the bird - again you've got the eye in focus, but a bit more depth to get the beak and those plumes on its head in focus would have been nice. The first shot I think is weaker because of the "greysky" background you've got - whilst withthe side portrait its less noticable (at least to my eyes)

Wow!! That's great praise. Thanks. Any specific technical advice you can give me?

I don't think I've got any specific technical advice that I can give you - as I said I felt that your exposures (and editing after) are pretty solid work. Even the points about depth of field are more a personal feeling than a specific error in the shots.

The only thing I can say is to work on your compositional skills to maximise what you have before you and what you're exposing

hahah me too! the word "cocks" may not have been the best choice of words, but the pictures are great.. #6 is my favorite
and #8 is great, but maybe a little better focusing, it seems to be just a bit out of focus.
