Interestingly enough, he doesn't use a polarizer on most of his shots.
I emailed him about it...

His pictures are amazing, and yet he doesnt use a CPOL, which most landscape shooters advocate. What are your thoughts on his methods? Obviously it works, but what do you think?

Hey Patrick,
Quick question. Why don't you use a polarizer? Is it cuzyou mostly always shoot into the sun? Thanks.

Hi Steve,
It is because a polarizer makes things look strange, especially the sky. The blues are too blue and the clouds lose their natural look. I want to see reflections and glare (which a polarizer reduces), they add to the drama. If I want to see into the water, I may use a polarier then.
Hope that helps,
Patrick
