November Iris

Irises bloom in the late Spring. A few select cultivars will re-bloom again in the Fall. Here's a yellow re-bloomer showing off in November. If it warms up enough this week I'll have a purple iris blooming for Thanksgiving.

Purple iris (the mini Japanese not bearded) are my all time favorite flower.

The only re-bloomers I'm aware of are bearded varieties. Japanese irises are wonderful -- good choice for a favorite. Back in medieval Japan they were restricted to only royalty -- I think we peasants got our hands chopped off if we were caught with them.
