OCD on patterns in light

I love the use of the repetition and of pattern created by repetition. My favorite of the shots presented is shot number three, the color one of the small, closely-spaced plants with the sort of star-shaped structure..

Didn't you mean "OCD"? LOL I actually like both color shots as a study in repetitive patterns, though IMO the first would benefit from a boost in the shadow.

I did, lol. I need to fix that. Thanks man. I purposely did that in the camera to accent the edges of the curvy leafs. I guess it's a pre-vision, artsy-fartsy thing...I could see many not appealing to it because it goes far away from traditional exposure theory. I think these are better represented as a man with a paint brush mind, stumbling along trying to find his way. I love your critique and comments though, you are like my brother from another mother. Some people like Picasso, some like Rembrandt, few like both.

I just love the flexibility and control of this Fujifilm stuff. I am a happy man.

I think in both the colour works to your advantage; whilst the black and white is a bit too muted in interest. I feel as if, esp in todays world of colour, black and white needs more of a contrast in the tones to really make it stand out.

The first shot I'd also say could go either way. Boost the shadows to brighten the green leaves; OR really darken the shadows so that you're almost left with just the green edges of the leaves standing proud and bright. The latter is actually closer to what I saw (cheap LCD screen here and a low viewing angle when I glanced at it).

@jcdeboever thought you'd like to know I stand corrected on the shadows in the first one. I was looking at it on my tablet earlier, and the shadows, were really dark with not a lot of deatil. On the computer (color corrected) there is a lot more detail than previously seen. Nothing wrong, with the first image, just IMO there is a lot of detail (pattern in the leaves that adds to the image). As Overread said above it's one of those images that could go either way. Just a thought, little creative editing in LR. This could also be one of those edits in PS that you could really expand on the painting look. Stay OCD my friend you have a good eye for patterns.

@smoke665, thanks man, your edit looks different. Appreciate it. Yup, with that raw file, I could really give it a work over. I'm just not there yet, getting close to it however.

That's exactly what I hoped you would see "different" not "better". The image starts in the photographers mind, and continues through processing. It would be a very boring world if we all had the same mental image.
