OCF Test Drive

Okay, so this is my first time trying OCF! Very exciting. Up to this point, I have always used ambient light or occasionally on camera flash. I wanted to expand my lighting toolkit. Today I bought a speedlight kit at the flea market. This kit included the stand and softbox.

This is the kit.

I got a great deal on it, but a few things you should know ...

1. The softbox did not come with the white fabric thing that goes over the front? So basically it was just bouncing off the inside. I need to get a white fabric for it. Any idea where or a DIY?

2. I do not have my pocketwizards yet. I used remote sync with my camera. This meant I was a bit limited in how far away I could place the flash from the camera. I think I could get about ten feet, but I am not sure.

expression wise, she looks almost disinterested in the first, but improves with each photo.
these are all really nice lighting wise.
#3 and #4 are my favorites pose wise and expression wise.
#3 is a really nice horizontal portrait.

overall, a very nice set. you should be pleased!

Good idea, I'll try the fabric store.

This kit was such a steal! I looked the same one up on my phone and talked the guy down even more because of the missing panel. I was very pleased to find it.
