I have a Sony nex-7 and want to get into using some off camera lighting. I've been doing some research as to what equipment to buy and keep hearing recommendations for yongnuo flashes. Looking at their website, none of the flashes say they are for sony cameras and some of them specifically say they are not for sony's. is this simply because the shoe is different and it would otherwise work with an adapter? I would assume any TTL functionality would not work but manual should still work, right? Are there any other recommendations that would be comparable as far as cost and quality, perhaps something that is made for a Sony. TTL would be nice but not needed.

Sigma and Metz make flashes for Sony camera. Pricier than the manual Chinese ones tho.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I ordered the Metz 52AF-1. A little more than I was planning on spending but I think I'll be pleased with the functionality and quality of their product.

Nice !

Looking forward to your review !
