Those definitely work better than the efforts I made some years back. I guess the choice of background must be part of what I got wrong & nasty cheap cooking oil would be another issue...

Perhaps it's nearly time to have another go

I used a beaker of water, some baby oil(clear) a macro lens plus an astronomy book I have for the background..

Awesome! Looks like mineral oil, which makes sense, since it isn't colored like veg oil. Yep, you said baby oil. Also a pane of glass on the bean cans and I'm guessing natural lighting.
