Filter vs no-Filter discussion aside, you should spend some good money for quality on anything that goes in front of that lens. If you are not willing to spend the $$$, you are better off not putting anything in-front.

As for generic there's no brand! You're just base on who's the seller, and judging by the picture of their ads. As I said I stocked up bunch of hoods from eBay sort from cheapest and you go by which one looks good and if the seller has good feedback. I had no problem, I only use amazon to buy other things that consist of many parts put together that you'll need real user reviews.

I don't know this would fit.

Looks nice but don't recommend that style because the 18-55mm focus ring rotates unlike the more expensive lens that doesn't so the hood will rotates when it focus. You want to get the circular one.

i am assuming you have these lenses and the hoods are generic replacements for Canon original hoods.
