I use the action and covert a photo I took yesterday.

Depending on the reason for the conversion, a film scanner might be a better option. Won't let you see the results immediately though...

Medium format is said to scan pretty well, and decent scanners aren't that expensive. I'd say this is your best bet. The Powershot thing is probably not going to work out, and it's such a compromise of what toy cameras are about.
