These were all taken on an overcast day in the Old Port of Montreal. First one I already posted in a different section of the forum. These were all taken without a tripod (i was walking to work).

all of them have some halo's to them

a little too processed for my taste, but not bad at all

I tend to agree halo's the the processing is a bit overdone this is clearly seen on the VW where the color shifts on the paint job. Bring back the sliders and keep your eye on the histogram you want to achieve a bell curvature more or less anything to the left is black and anything to the right is white so if those areas are spiked then they are blowing up.

a little tweaking of the HDR settings and these would be even better.

i LOVE Montreal, especially Old Montreal... the architecture is great, almost like a slice of Europe here in Canada. (the great food in town is also a big plus! lol)

Thanks for the feedback guys....here are two more I processed last night before I got these tips. BTW, do you find the processing isn't as bad on #3 as it was with #1 and #2? I was a little more conservative with that one.

I think the issue of "overprocessing" depends on what effect you're going after. None of these scenes has a very wide dynamic range, so in a sense there's not much for HDR software to do...at least not range-wise. Tone mapping, on the other hand, is a different issue. If you want the scene to look realistic, then pull back on the sliders, and you'll probably get what you would have gotten from the 0EV image anyway. Personally, I think images like this look best what they begin to cross the line from photography to photoillustration. I'd probably back down the reds a bit, but I like the general direction. Even the halos aren't so bad when they appear against cloudy skies.
