So I'm in the Navy, and I am my ships photographer, it's an extra duty, not my actual job. I typically use my own gear because I'm used to it and the gear that my ship has is Canon, not my cup of tea.
Anyways I find out that the ship had some other cameras that I did not know about, these aren't in great shape, the bodies seem to work. Anyways, one is Nikon D70S, don't know why they still have it, but it was buried. So this camera has a rather nice lens on it, to my dismay it's beat up a bit. So I try it on my D200 to try it out, it seems to work fine and then it just stops autofocusing, I try the focus ring, and there seems to be for every so it grinds at the ends of the focus range.
Any ideas?
Would this lens be worth getting fixed. I know they are around $1400.
