Old Vivitar 285

Hello happy new year to all of you.

My uncle gave my an old flash, a vivitar 285, (not the new "HV" version but the old one), and I've read some info about the voltage can damage the camera, stuff like that. So i wonder if anyone have or used one of those with a pocket wizard plus II? So i can go and save for one (actually 2)

I guess i have to get a hotshoe-to-pc adapter so i can use the flash with the pocket wizard right?. Anyways will it be safe to the pocket wizard?

One other thing, the flash can be used with an ac adapter, the vivitar SB-6 which is kind of hard to find, i wonder if anyone has any info on this?
Maybe i can buy one of those after market "switchable" ac adapters? Does anyone know the rating?
