Yeah, sometimes I like my depressing subject matter to be confined tightly - seems appropriate somehow. The other thing here was that the stuff outside the wooden frame was lighter and a bit distracting. Thanks for commenting.

I like the subject. Agree about the tight crop, but you gotta do what you gotta do ...
I think I might have gone with a monochrome here. The colors are a bit too drab and it makes the composition rather flat.
Maybe accentuate the contrast between the grating and the background where it to differs depending on the background brightness?
Just a thought.
