I knew it would be London. Good work peoples and enjoy the huge crowds and inability to get anything done for about 6 months coz everything about 'the olympics' takes up all the resources.! yay.. Go the olympics!

I knew it would have to be in London or Paris. I was hoping for Paris myself. Madrid and Moscow didn't have much of a chance I think. And IMO New York would not be a good place to hold the olympics. But I'm happy with London. I'm thinking I might want to go to the games in 2012 now that I know where they'll be, but who knows if I'll still feel like it 7 years from now.

Congrats to all of our British friends here (and everwhere else), it's about time!:hail: :hail:

IMHO a much better choice from all the rest of the competing cities. Can't wait for the Olympic Football final game!!!

I'm extremely happy. The football will be great. Old Trafford, New Wembley, New Arsenal, New Liverpool, Newcastle, Millenium Stadium....all massive footballing venues.
I live in Brighton, a mere 50 miles away, so it is going to probably affect me a lot if in seven years I am still here.

TO be honest I thinkg the Olympic Football games will be held in Arsenal, Tottenham, West Ham, and Wembley (not like the old Wembley .... Ahh the twin towers how I long to see them again ...).

Anfield is remaining I guess, but any Liverpool ground would be strongly opposed as Everton may or may have to share it.

Old Trafford will (with a bit of luck) be a housing estate and Man Unt will have folded by then (we can but hope).

The Olympic football final will be staged at Wembley stadium but with the Boylyn Grtound being in the heart of East London, I would have thought a that many games would be played there. And probably at White Heart Lane.

I REALLY want a photogrpahers pass for that but I suspect that the national Newspapera will be the only ones gettig them. No amateur passes will be given ...specially after Thursday 7-7-05!

Still I live in hope.

My daughter is quite appealed by the idea! She is now more resolved than ever to qualify for the German Swim Team by then (har-har). She'll be 19 at the time, and it is always good to have a goal (unless you go by PlasticSpanner's wife's Office Rules that also say: "Aim Low, Achieve Goal, Avoid Disappointment"

) I would then accompany her, I think. (Well, ok, her chances are 1:10.000.000, but well... you have to start somewhere, right?)

My daughter is back home. That feels good. She had left for a swim meet in South Germany (some 7 hours drive from where we live) on Thursday afternoon at 2 and is now back.

It was her first really international meet, with teams from Hungary, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand, Denmark and more... she doesn't remember. She won herself one gold medal in her best run, the 200m breaststroke, though she was not happy with the time (it is only one second slower than her personal best time), one silver medal over the 200m freestyle in a new personal best time, 2 bronze medals over the 100m breaststoke and the 100m freestyle (both in two new personal best times), a fifth over the 200m medley (again in a new personal best time) and a 7th over I don't know what, the certificate is missing in her collection.

London! Watch out!
