Olympus E - 1 question

I have a new to me E-1 and got a 4 gig memorycard. The question has to do with the length of time it takes to write to the card and that I can't take a picture untoil it does. I have it set to SHQ, and I realize that might slow it down some, but it takes about ten seconds to write, during which time the red light flashes. I wonder if I have used the incorrect settings but have found nothing about write time in the manual

What brand card is it?

And how large a file is it writing on that setting?
