Olympus E410 Flash Issue

i have a question about the flash for my E410 olympus - for now i have the popup flash that is built into the e410 - when i use it it triggers like a strobe light on the subject, like its trying to check something, which irritates the subject. if i buy a shoe mount flash will that issue be resolved or will the shoe mount flash do the same?

I can't make any promises on whether an off camera flash will do the same or not, but it is definitely not an 'issue.' If your camera doesn't have a dedicated AF assist lamp, then it will use the built in flash as one and strobe the subject to achieve focus in poor light.
However, investing in a flash isn't usually a bad thing :thumbup:

Yes.

The E-4xx series of cameras strobe the popup-flash for focusing assist, it also doesn't work very well. Also in manual mode (on the E-420 at least) the flash doesn't strobe if you're in manual.

If you get a flash unit like FL-50R or the FL-36R you will get a red focus assist lamp in the flash which not only performs better but is no where near as irritating.
