Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
Just wanted some opinions on this picture that I took of my baby sister. Sorry it's so small and the EXIF info is stripped. I'm still waiting for my laptop to come back from the Geek Squad that has the originals of all of my pics on it, as well as Photoshop, so this was taken off of my Facebook and cropped in Picnik. =/ I'll add in the original as soon as I get my laptop back.

Choose a different background, this one does nothing but distract from the subject. Its a cute family snapshot though...keep shooting...

Cute. It's hard to self critique a photo of a loved one. You see your adorable little sister and not the image. As the above response said, 'nice family snapshot'.

Back ground was already commented on.

Exposure is ok.

A reflector could have been used to throw a bit of light on the right side of her face and light the eyes a bit more.

Looks like you were using a lens with a wide field of view. Be careful when photographing people up close with such a lens. They tend to introduce some distortion due to perspective. Her knees and hands are pretty big compared to the rest of her. That is because her knees and hands were relatively close to the lens compared to the rest of her.

Keep shooting.

Thanks for the tips! So far, I don't have much in the way of gear. I just have my D3000 with the 18-55 kit lens and the 55-200 VR lens...no reflectors or flashes or any of that good stuff. I'm mostly shooting for working on exposure and general composition right now. =) Could I have reduced the size of her knees/hands by shooting from further away or shooting from up higher (not on the same level as them)??

Photographing from farther away and using the longer end of the focal range would have reduced this perspective issue while maintaining nearly the same framing.
