Holy Crap, how did that happen?

Some of you know that I recently had surgery and unable to hold a camera. Tripod with the Manfrotto 322 head and a remote was my only saving grace to feed my monkey.

I started out by shooting Hummingbirds here, which lead to this set and eventually to this thread. (YES, that was all unashamed self promotion)

Anyway, one of my Hummers got picked as the Front Page photo on this blog site that I recently registered on. A friend of a friend sorta thing got me to it. I had made a couple of posts and almost forgot about it. Thought to myself, Hey post the birds. I started getting several comments and didn't have a clue what the hell they were on about. So I had a look at the front page. Holy Crap, how did that happen?

Awesome Possum!!!

So out of curiosity, what sort of shutter speed does it take to freeze a hummingbird's wings?

Wow, J, that's very cool! And as you say, very exciting. :boogie:
Cheers Anty. I'm usually quite happy with 2 or 3 replies to my photos here. I think I may need a bigger summer hat now.

Thanks Daan. If they only knew how good your birds and bugs are then I wouldn't have stood a chance.

Thanks you Hound. Possum around here is just roadkill though.

Well, that particular photo was at 1/500 and didn't actually freeze the wings. However, at 1/8000 you can freeze the wings of a bumblebee as seen here.
