Only in Iowa

LOL, Had no idea I think this place is the only one in Iowa, oh well it was fun but after like 3 times trying to catch the pumpkin in the picture I gave up.

The guy who worked there told me only has it ever been caught on a camera once and some lady just got lucky with some crappy P&S they shoot at like 50 psi and I guess my 3.7 fps or whatever it is is WAY to slow! LOL

My gosh! It seems that those monster pumpkin cannons can launch a pumpkin 3,400 to 4,200 feet with pretty good regularity!!! I went to the link KmH provided and looked at some of the galleries...I had no idea that midwesterners were into this kind of thing...

what else do we really have to do, other than take pictures. lol

This is the one I was at!

In Maine we have pumpkin trebuchet's.

Medieval win.

They even race tractors on 100 yrd straight tracks while pulling weighted sleds. Some of the tractor classes have up to 6 - $30,000 each, blown, big block drag racing engines in them.

The average farmer, by necessity, is a shadetree mechanic and devotee to the notion that necessity is the mother of invention.

Besides, what else is there to do all winter? :lmao:

I dig the pumpkin Trebuchets, it's something Californian's here know nothing about. When my little bro was taking physics, he had a project to build any device that would launch a ping pong ball at least 10 yards. We built a full on pumpkin trebuchet that could throw a medium sized pumpkin 100 feet or so (nothing like what the winners of this contest build), BUT as you can imagine it was the most impressive ping pong ball thrower of the class.

That sounds awesome! If I drive by when they're flinging pumpkins I'll snag a few shots, and maybe some video.

Oh the things you can do on a farm, I love my farm and its great that my kids can grow up learning things about how to run a farm and take care of our animals and my 3 year old isnt afraid to see something butchered... lol and saying I can drive a tractor is pretty cool too. lol
