Opinion needed! Point & shoot camera

Do you happen to have any more links that show the great quality of a G10 as well?

Check out real world pictures taken with the various cameras you're interested in over at Flickr.

Canon G10

Leica D-LUX 4

Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX3

Sigma DP2

For image quality none of the other P&S cameras can touch the Sigma DP2 because of the much larger image sensor it uses. If you're more interested in the features or zoom range then I'm guessing the Leica D-LUX 4 is the way to go.

The Canon G10 has a much larger user group as it's the most popular of this bunch. The Panasonic DMC-LX3 would be next followed by the Leica D-LUX 4. The Sigma has much smaller user group since it's not as well known at this time.

I bought a Sony DSC H10, and really regret it after using a friends G10. I have to say it's a great camera for what it is, easy to use, great results. Potential for fully manual focus is a plus, even though it's a little clumsy, and the RAW capabilities are something I'm missing from my camera. It also has custom white balance, which is useful for when you're not shooting RAW.

As revilo posts - custom white balance is very useful and a
significant capability. Whichever camera you decide to buy.

As Samanax posts - the DP2 has a bigger sensor which can
'capture' visual imagery better than a smaller one.

But consider how the Sigma processes that information internally,
compared to the Canon. An important consideration.

EDIT: I wouldn't necessarily consider those examples on flickr
as definitive. How much post-production has been undertaken
is unknown - as also is the resizing processing for upload and display
on the site. test pictures at dpreview are straight off the camera and
can be inspected at 100% original size.

In terms of noise control, In-camera sharpening, white-balance control, dynamic range.

dpreview test conclusions for DP1 (Foveon)

Unreliable White Balance (and poor color in low light)
Red channel clipping
Green and purple color blotches (chroma noise) visible even at base ISO
Muted, washed-out colors

The OP asks for a choice. I'd choose the G10 I think. But I'm not spending
and I don't own either a G10 nor a DP2 or DP1. Side by side, of them all
I like the test shots most of the LX3, then the G10.
