I will be getting a Nikon d3100 for christmas and I was wondering if I could hear some reviews from people that actually might use it. and also, if they have any tips for a first time user of a dslr, i'd love to hear them.

thanks!!
:)

p.s. also, if i could get some advice for using this forum, that would be super, because it is confusing to me.

I think something very important to remember is patience. DSLR cameras are not point and shoot... They are more complicated... But they are also more rewarding. I would suggest going to a local bookstore and picking up a model specific book on the D3100. Sit down with the book and read it while holding your camera, going through and performing the functions as you read about them. This will really help you remember what everything on the camera does. Congratulations on getting a GREAT camera, and most importantly, HAVE FUN! Don't be shy about asking questions on this forum, that's what it is for! Good luck!

Also.....
Try to make sure the first 1,000 pictures you take are well thought out and intentional..... not of the ceiling fan and the half-empty beverage on the table in front of you.

Anything specific? I don't find this forum to be confusing at all.....

Tip -

Step 1.) Go out and take a ton of photos, delete the bad ones, edit the good ones.

Step 2.) See step 1
