I'm not a guru of CorelDraw. But I'm using quite modern version X5. Yesterday at 7 p.m. .cdr file stopped working. I clicked on open, but nothing happened. I checked another file it easily opened. I created in my corel file very important data for some days. Now I don't have thoughts about do I repair cdr data or I can avoid it. My customer waits this file up to end of the week.

Daisy, Corel Draw makes a backup file, have you tried opening that file? You may try copying the file that is not working and save it with a different name, sometimes this can help.

If you have this error that it is possible that your .cdr file is corrupted. First of all you apply guide from Corel company in the following by using WinZip

With 'Make Back-up on Save enabled, w'hen saving a file a second time, CorelDRAW will rename the original file to "Backup of filename.cdr". If you were to re-save the file again, because Windows will not allow two files with the same name, in the same location at the same time, CorelDRAW will save the file as a .tmp file. Once the save process is complete, the "Backup offilename.cdr" is deleted and the .tmp file is renamed to "Backup of filename.cdr". With this in mind, it may be possible to rename the .tmp file to .zip and then extract the data.
