Organizing Your digital photos?

Advantages are extreme flexibility and ease of use. No disadvantages. Of course, you do need a Mac but that's another advantage!

Yes please same here, I have window xp. I do want to store them in the computer with all the infos intact. Free program would preferrable for starter while chosing which is which.

I use adobe bridge, but then again that's only because it's the only thing I have that can view RAW besides photoshop and the canon software.

Adobe Lightroom.

Adobe Bridge... Really like they rating and meta data features. Lightroom would probably work too, but did see enough benefit for me to spring for it and CS3

Works on xp and vista

Pretty pricey program but you can use a trial for a month and try it first.

Plus I can view RAW files now!

i love adobe bridge.. just eats a ton of memory making my computer slower

adobe lightroom is really good too actually. i was one of the beta testers.... i have never seen the final version

Does shooting in RAW really help with your final product? What are some advantages to that?
I am using a canon digital xti and really just learning with it. I have been using the best quality jpeg settings but, my photos aren't pro quality yet.

RAW really helps you tweak and correct problems from the shoot. The biggest thing I fix is the White balance. And it isn't compressed, so you don't get artifacts. I used to shoot hi res jpeg, but have gone to RAW. With the xti you can shoot both while you are getting used to it.

Ok. With each answer comes more questions. If shooting in RAW what software is necessary to edit that format? I assume photoshop but, are there others?
I also might have a chance to buy an older version of photoshop 7.0 that someone has and never used still in box for real cheap etc. Is that worth the time or is it too outdated to do anything with? I probably should start another thread with that.
