Chicks have all fledged at the nest on Lake Monroe....but they still hang around in the nest when its time to eat.

Awesome photos!!! I'm a mega dork for birds, and ospreys happen to be one of my favorite birds to watch. I haven't shot birds yet. What type of lens and about how far away were you shooting?

Absolutely gorgeous shots, Eric! :)

Amazing!! Simply stunning.. Please could you tell us the settings used.. I have been vaguely trying to catch birds in flight with no success other than blurry images.

First two are awesome. Can't decide what I like best.

These are beautiful! I love them all but the third is my favorite. Such a gorgeous animal...

I was leaning toward number 3 also, due to the great capture of the gaze of the eyes and the wingspan. But I love the sharpness, literally and figuratively, of the claws in 2. I wish it was a bit higher above the landing pole though...move it in photoshop up higher a bit OP. lol. (since the background is pretty much all same color of blue/gray it should be a quick easy move with not much work needing done post)

Eric, great images. Thanks for sharing. I like the second one best.

EricD, what a truly outstanding set. I'm just blown away. Composition, color, saturation, and exposure are just dead on. It's a tough decision, but after really studying them all, picture #2 gets my vote as the best of the set. What a truly great image it is.

Gotta say #1 takes the cake for me, very nice set and thanks for sharing.

I don't know what kind of fish are in that lake but if you can catch some sunfish or bluegill or something like that, the osprey love an easy meal and will come land right in front of you if you throw them out for it. There is an osprey at my favorite fishing pond that fallows me around when I show up! I need to bring my camera next time.
