Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I, like many beginners, seem to have trouble sometimes finding things to take pictures of. I thought it might be a good idea to set a challenge/goal for myself. Then I thought it might be fun to get a few more people involved. Whether anyone joins me in this or not, I don't care. I still want to do it for myself, and will be back here to post my results.

The goal here is NOT to win, or to produce photographs that are better than everyone elses. The goal is simply to get you out and see what you can do with the idea, and share your results.

The challenge:
Take a normal, every day subject (or subjects), and set up a shot that conveys sadness. It could be a picture of one LEGO man mourning over the death of another LEGO man, or a lone pine cone crushed and helpless among a vast sea of desolate snow, or a child on a swing motionless at an empty park. You get the idea. Post processing effects to help achieve this are fine, but try not to let the PP be responsible for ALL of the emotion.

Deadline is Friday if you agree to join me in this little adventure. Feel free to post yours any time between now and then.. post as many as you'd like.

Wrong time of the year bub. This is meant to be a happy time, albeit sadness does exist for various reasons. I'm only shooting happy, smiley, joyful images until January. Then I turn another year older and will be pretty pissed off anyays.

That's what makes this a challenge! and for what its worth, there is alot of sadness around this time, even tho it is a time of rejoice and happiness. I do believe this is also the time of year, in which suicide rates are highest. Not that that is the main idea. I just saying, sadness is every where, Christmas or not. Sadness will exist, as long as we exist.

Why exacerbate the situation though? I experience my own personal hell each holiday season. I'd rather photograph happiness this time of year. January is a phuqued up month anyway, do sadness then.

Just my 2¢.

Check out the Fight Club forum right here on this site. It's a great way to get some practice and stretch your creativity.

Basically it's a weekly contest where you get 5 topics, and you have to shoot a photo for each topic. The twist is that once you get the topics (they are sent to you by email via automatic reply), you only have an hour to shoot, edit, and upload everything. After the round closes we all vote on the submissions we like best.

It's really a lot of fun - you should pop in and check it out! At the very least, you can browse through some of the recent threads to see what the topics were and what people came up with, and see if any of them inspire you to find something similar to shoot. :)

I think that's a great idea. You mentioned the Lego figures - I could have a lot of fun with that. My 11yr old son has a ton of legos :) I'll try go get something in here pretty soon.

Here is one I took a few months back with my old camera, Kodak Easyshare Z1485. This was not a set up - she was in a crabby mood.;)
