Passage of time - headstone being taken by tree

My parents, when they were alive, lived in Fincastle Virginia, founded in 1772.

In it, there is an old cemetery, and I took many good photos there. This is one of my favorites. I like how the tree marks the passage of time and is taking the headstone, and the deceased below too. It's hard to read through the moss, but I think it has been there since 1821. (but it could be 1871) - either way ... the tree either wasn't there at all - or is was a sapling - when the grave was dug
