Past Photography Projects?

I've had my camera for about 7 months now. I've continued to shoot a lot, and have found that I gravitate more toward people photography than I do toward anything else, particularly capturing kids in their natural environment. Since the husband and I don't have kids of our own, that scenario isn't super common, but I can spend hours shooting anything outdoors. Easy when it was warm, easy with the pretty fall colors, cold but still enjoyable with loads of pretty snow and ice covering everything. Unfortunately, we are at the point in the winter where it has been very cold, but just brown and dead. No more snow, but still several weeks to endure before we start to see green. It's cold and windy today, so I spent some time in front of our sliding glass doors with a vase of flowers.



So.... as I'm looking for something to kind of drag me out of this lull I am in, I thought I'd pick up a new project. Project 365 was attempted, but I only made it 36 days. I considered a 52 week project, but I would rather go with more of a "theme", as I shoot weekly regardles. I recently saw an article with a woman doing a project with her children's toys (which sounds mundane, but it was so neat.... and imagine being able to look at pictures of toys that you haven't seen since you were 9...). I have thought about doing one of my hometown in relation to me growing up.... places that we went to a lot as a family, people who were influential to me, people who were influential to the town when I was young, etc. But again, I'd rather do it in the spring/summer when everything is nice and pretty, as a lot of them are outdoor places.

What have been some of your favorite projects from the past? Any good ones for beginners?

Not sure about your area. But I have really enjoyed trying to get to remote places in search of something cool.. I mean NZ we have waterfalls and all sorts hidden away everywhere. But even taking a walk and finding on abandoned buildings and architecture?

Regards to home town, that's awesome. A couple of years back I went to the house I grew up in when I was a baby and asked if I could take some photos around the yard and they were happy to let me. It was so cool...

I live mostly near farmland and wooded areas Maybe I should just work on technique, lighting, etc. while I'm trapped inside so I'm ready to go for nice weather.

I've started making a list of places and people for when it warms up, and it's getting quite lengthy
