PC/Laptop question

Hey, not to long ago I upgraded my home PC for the purpose of photo work, I have an external drive that I use to back up LightRoom which I use to store all the photos. I just purchased a Laptop and now have LR installed and was wandering how you guys go about "syncing" them together? 90% of the time I dump my photos streight to the desktop but I would like to be able to do an out of town shoot, download the the laptop and begin editing while away, then sync the two machines when I get back so they both have the same edited data? Does this make sence?

If it is Windows XP that you are using ... then read this MS Tech Doc
That is one way ... though there are other ways also.

Thank, yes it is XP...Vista lasted 4 days on the laptop
