PC problems...( I hope it's not my camera)

I recently purchased a new camera so I decided to give it a run out. Today I took myself off up a mountain and took a couple of hundred shots and I was really looking forward to having a look at them in PS. So I was in the process of transferring my pics and had highlighted them all and I was about to drag and drop them into a different folder when I accidentally dropped them on the recycle bin! No biggie because a message appeared saying " If I continue the images will be deleted permanently, do you wish to continue?" So naturally I clicked no but then dissaster struck! After I clicked no the pictures vanished from my camera and my PC. I was so angry. So I tested it again and took some test shots and intentially dropped them on the recycle bin to bring up the do you wish to continue message. When the message appeared I again clicked no and the pics vanished again. I can't understand it. I just recently purchased a refurbished PC and it has 2 gig of ram and windows 7. Is there a problem with the pc or is the problem with my camera? I hope it's not my camera because I have lost the receipts. Please help me?

This has never happened to me. It does seem very strange for this to happen. Whats your exact computer spec?

So they vanished from the camera as well? Were you really moving them cut and paste style or just copying them from the camera to PC?

I had highlighted them all as a whole and was using the drag and drop technique which usually copies them from the camera to the pc. I have no clue what happened!

I'm guessing that dragging them to the recycle is why they disappeared since dragging things to the rc doesn't copy them there in moves them completely. It's a complete guess but I'm betting the size of the combined pictures has something to do with why the PC deleted them even after you canceled the action.

I hope that is the case. So it has nothing to do with the camera then? I'm not to bothered about loosing the images I can always take more pictures I'm just worked invade there is an issue with my camer?

Maybe out of some freak accident you actually hit cut, very unlikely but have you tried to paste in a different folder ?

did you check in you recycle bin, they should be there until you tell the bin to empty

Yes I tried to paste in another folder to no avail and I have checked the recycle bin aswell but it's a good shout. Sorry for the bad typos my iPhone changes the words to what it thinks I want to say lol
