Sony RX100

I came into a Sony RX100 and decided to take it on my Disney World trip with the grandkids. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by this little camera. We bought the Photopass so I didn’t use it a lot and I also took my D750 with me. Need to spend some time with it, but I think this was a nice little add. I really like the B&W pics that it produces.

I do wish it had a viewfinder and a flip out screen. I looked up prices on these thinking about trading it, but prices are rather steep on these. I can live without them.

My RX100 model 4 has flip out scree , flash, and eye level finder. There are 7 different models. Here;s a list. Obviously the prices will be diferent. Note that the later models have a 24-200mm while the earlier model 24-70mm lens, but brighter and with an automatic dimmer for video bright conditions.
The original Sony RX100 (released in 2012) does not have a viewfinder or a flip screen, though it does include a built-in flash.
Because there are seven different versions of this camera, these features change significantly depending on the "Mark" (generation) you are looking at. Here is the breakdown:

The camera really is great for travel as you have found. Small. pocketable. I make slide video shows for diplay on my 75" smart TV or to download to YouTube or a monitor or cellphone. It's really great.

I have the III and the IV. Great travel camera and I think it was sold as a pro video camera because of the frame rates. The IV can go to 120 fps, but it burns thru a battery at that rate. I've only used the pop up a few times. Mostly I shoot blind with this camera out in the full sun. It does a great job with their easy to use time-lapse app. The camera did get a little hot once in Mexico and I thought the camera drained the battery. But, found out later to let the camera cool and take out battery/insert. At the time I was taking time-lapse.
