I am quite pleased with this photo, but what do you think? Comments please!

Too much rock. I can early see the trailer which i think is the main subject. Try a little cropping

This photo leaves quite a bit to the imagination and allowing it to sit back in the photo is creates more question. The photo seems to be about the textures, so I believe the long pebbled foreground is necessary. Nice work

It's absolutely too much foreground. And it is about the textures, but not the amount of an individual texture. Nedlog, how many vantage points did you shoot from? How many different camera angles? What is the purpose of that distracting chunk of land at left? How many ways did you crop the original? Nice work??? How about nice eye to shoot it and nice palette to work with.

I think this shot would take a completely different feel if the trailer was facing the other way. My eyes only want to look at the left side of the frame, where the hitch part of the trailer is pointing to (as well as more clouds in the sky). This leaves the right side of the frame and all that foreground feeling like empty space. I think this would bring the pebbled foreground into the composition more as well, making it less problematic.

I don't know if you're able to turn the trailer 180 degrees and try it again, but I'd be curious to see the result if you can! I would also try composing it so the bottom of the trailer is not in line with horizon. Getting a little separation there will help highlight the trailer a bit more. You could try a bit of an angle from the hitch pointing in towards the foreground also for more of a leading line.

I certainly think you're onto something at this scene!

I like the pebbled foreground too! I think it is a fantastic shot

What about it makes you pleased?

If this is about texture, then the trailer should not be in the frame.

And if it about texture, without the trailer, then you should try to put the horizon a little lower in the frame.

The sky is the best part of this shot, IMO.

This looks like an HDR photo. I don't like how black those clouds are. It's like the polar opposite of blown out skies. I'd also like to see less granularity in the foreground.

I like the portrait crop but liked the first one better with the the extra rock formations and more foreground.
