The lights from the cars made the bodies invisible except for the feet, which were protected by the darker background of the sidewalk. Just one of those things that happen unexpectedly and you store away for future use.

I think this technique has a lot of promise. I've found something similar in taking relatively slow shutter shots of pedestrians walking (1/20 - 1/5 sec) on a plaza in the shade, and it's quite striking how the feet get anchored to the pavement, and the rest of the body disappears. It's something I am trying to play with to see its expressive potential.
