Can others edit my Photos
Photos OK to edit
I guess this is kind of a Facebook rant. I live on a military base so their is tons of mwc. All of them who do photography extremely over edits their photos to the point that the colors are so messed up and looks really grainy. Yet people on Facebook seem to love it. Very strange

"Nobody ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American public." Henry Louis Mencken

So,yeah, your point has been duly noted before. In a similar vein, McDonald's has often been "America's Top Restaurant"; Gallo jug wine America's top-selling wine; individually wrapped slices of greasy, fake processed American "cheese" are eaten by the millions in this country as "cheese", and so on. Across many, many aspects of American life, mediocrity is the norm.

It's just an uneducated public, I too use to think blown highlights, lost shadows and crazy colours were "cool". OOF subjects, motion blur, crazy white balance and chopped limbs didn't bug me. After you spend time reading everything you can about photography, join a forum and post your masterpeices for C&C you start to see things in a different light.

Editing images used to be the realm of pros. Now, anyone who can afford a low-end computer can get in on the action. Ergo, editing means you're a pro.

If you want to sell your work, you have to give them what they want. Education of the public is epic fail. LOL and Derrel, I drink BOX wine, Thank you very much..LOL With sliced cheese LMAO.

Exactly, if it's what your clientele wants, you give it or you don't. As much as the photographic community (especially here) hates selective coloring, letter blocks on pregnant belly, and actions, it's what majority parents want done to their photos, so photographers give them what they want. If you want to be artistic, be artistic in your personal shots and be cheesy during paid shoots lol.

You want some processed cheese with that boxed whine.

That's the reason decent art is always so freakin expensive. Only 0.01% of the population knows it's decent, so you don't sell very many : )

People like over processed junk photographs when they haven't been presented with something better.

I'll drink Gallo wine, it doesn't taste like dirty dishwater anymore after a few glasses.
