OK, so I'm not completely new or anything, but do have a question before I try it and see for myself. I recently acquired a Nikon D70 to complement my Nikon D40. Anyways, my D40 has AF-S lenses and I bought a D70 body for my 50mm 1.8 AF. I know I CAN use my AF-S lenses on my D70, but do I need to set my body to manual focus before doing so? Again, I'm only asking before I try it and possibly mess anything up. Thanks in advance, Jeff

p.s. I may consider selling my D40 depending on the outcome if anyone is interested? It has less than 1000 clicks ( yes, it's barely used I know) and is like new!!

Nah you're not going to break anything, but you'll want to keep the switch on the body set to AF and change focus modes on the lens instead. The lens won't let you turn the manual focus ring if the lens switch is set to AF, so changing the focus setting on the body to M would basically prevent both manual AND automatic focusing.

Hey, thanks...I appreciate the suggestion
