I like the perspective, but the shot itslelf lacks some punch. Perhaps a touch of contrast will fix it? Or a conversion to mono???

She means to desaturate it so much that all the colours are gone and you got a black+white version of this photo ... although I would think it a pity to see the yellow of these train carriages go, it is quite an intense yellow which goes well with the blue of his (your?) clothing and the sky.
This isn't a camera phone pic, by any chance?

If you are going to do it again, maybe use a reflector or something to get some more light on their face. (Maybe having them not wear a hat would help?)
