GIMP is good but takes awhile to learn.

Photoscape is popular but not as powerful as GIMP or Photoshop. You can still fix and enhance photos with it, it's just not made for heavy duty photo editing.

Never tried GIMP but i'll try it out on the Mac OS I'm about to install lol. Also I think you should make your avatar image smaller before the mods get to you.

The lack of resources/guides/tutorials for Gimp annoyed me at first so I went with the low-cost Elements option. But if you are determined, I'm sure Gimp will be just fine

Technically photoshop can be free nowadays, as well as most any other program due to the internet

No you might not..

1) it's illegal.
2) it's how viruses and trojans spread ( including on Mac OS).
