Photo shoot scenario!

You are going on vacation to the beach and plan on doing a 12hr shoot. You want to get shots of surfers riding waves, birds, landscapes, and perhaps squeeze in some time for candid. You can only bring 1 camera body, 2 lenses, 3 extra batteries, up to 5 small misc. items essential for your camera gear/yourself, and a bag that best suites you that can hold all these items. You can choose anything whether you own it or not. What will you bring?

Nice!! Those are the lenses I'm saving up for! The lens pen is great. I normally don't carry a notebook I would never really use it. In it's place I'd use Charmin To Go (tp to go), having IBS sucks! What bag would you bring?

Well, if I'm going on vacation to the beach I'm not bringing equipment to do a 12 hour shoot. I'm taking some fishing gear, snorkeling gear, and misc. beach gear. Towels, umbrellas, cooler with libations, etc. etc.

Probably a shoot sac for my lenses/speedlite and stuff. I can't carry much of anything over my one shoulder so a big bag is a NO GO for me. The shoot sac is about perfect for the accessories and lenses I am taking.

Anything I am submitting for publication I need to have info on-notebook and pen.

When you are learning it's a great tool to carry with you to write down notes about the problems you may encounter, things that work, thoughts, settings, lighting conditions, etc. Then when you are home you can look at it and ask or search out how to avoid your problems, see what did work, what didn't...

Nikon 24 to 36MP d-slr and one battery will be good for all 12 hours. Nikon SB 800 flash with the 5th battery accessory added. 5 CF cards. Lenses? For surfing and long-range, the 80-400 VR, to be used on FX, and also with High Speed Crop mode for extra "reach" (cough,cough). Two lenses? Okay, second lens??? 70-200 VR for better quality. Accessories? 12-pack of beer, 8-foot beater spinning rod, couple of small tackle boxes with some tin jigs and leadhead jigs in a fannypack, beach chair, sunblock. Get to beach. Pile camera equipment inside of waterproof Coleman cooler. Set up beach chair, prop feet up on Coleman cooler,crack open beer. Proceed to fish for 11.4 hrs. Shoot photos remaining time. Sleep in car or on beach in lightweight tent. Repeat following day after replenishing beer supply.

I love that idea! I often carry around my Lowepro Flipside 500 AW which can hold all of the gear I'd need. I am a huge fan of Lowepro, I attach other pouches for lenses/accessories onto the slip-lock rings wherever I feel I'll need them and it can hold my tripod on the back. The waist strap/belt takes off most of the weight which helps my back (I have spina bifida S1). Best all-out bring everything bag for $200

Shooting at the beach for me is vacation. I love what I do, why not do it in a climate I love as well?
